IO Associates are helping a company recruit an Application Support Engineer for an organisation in the West Midlands. You will be managing the day-to-day delivery of Application and actively contributing to the operational effectiveness of the Application Support function.
Role: Application Support Engineer
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Good Benefits
Location: West Midlands
·Ensure all business applications across all of the company are supported within I&O Application Support, are supported to a high standard and incidents, requests and problems are updated and resolved within a timely manner, within agreed SLA's.
·Conducts the running of the daily checks and standard BAU activities which are required within the area on a daily basis. This includes sharing knowledge so that any member of the team can run these checks.
·Responsible for 3rd Party Business applications and ensure they patched in a timely manner to ensure that there is no vulnerability to the estate
·Provide On Call support for business critical applications which have been identified as requiring extended support.
·Directly engage and consult with assigned customer/stakeholder groups to ensure escalations are handled correctly and are communicated. Ensure all users are updated on the progress of their call in a timely manner
·Contribute to the Change Management process; ensuring that only approved changes are implemented, and with minimal business impact.
·Manage live releases to agreed environments for any application requests in scope for the team
·The complete sequence of activities within a process, from receipt of an incident or request to delivery of a product or service.
·Review and constantly improve monitoring capability
·Seek to Automate tasks wherever possible to improve efficiency and repeatability
·ITIL V3 Foundation qualification
·IT related qualification (MCP/Comp TIA)
·Strong technical background in MS technologies
·Windows, Wintel and PowerShell experience key
·Knowledge of business processes and regulatory requirements.
·Experience of application support within a large multi-site environment.
·Knowledge of Windows, MS SQL and Network architecture.
·Installing/troubleshooting windows operating systems, deploying/packaging applications.
·Installing/troubleshooting and supporting a wide range of systems and applications.
·Previous application support or 1st and 2nd Line IT support experience essential
Ideally you will not be too desktop focused and financial services experience is a bonus.
