Principle responsibilities: - Accurately processing orders/requisitions (including prices, quantities, dates and authorisation). - Processing MRPs (Material Requirements Planning) & Call off's. - Negotiating pricing. - Monitoring inventory levels and safety stock. - Maintaining good relationships with all suppliers. - Forecasting, scheduling and buffering supplier contracts. - Organising, attending and participating in supplier meetings. - Attending new product & Production meetings. - Processing orders. - Sourcing new products and suppliers/working with Product Managers/R&D. - Sourcing alternative products as and when required. - Processing any returns, returning faulty items and raising credit requests (RTV). - Liaising with the Stores and Dispatch departments for deliveries and cost variances. - Planning, e.g, advanced orders/safety stocks. - Ownership of accounts, e.g, UK suppliers and covering Overseas when other Buyer on leave. - Reporting figures to line manager, cost savings, material issues, etc. - Completing other ad hoc duties as and when required.
Organisational responsibility: The Junior Buyer will report to the Chief Buyer, but will also work closely with the rest of Purchasing team.
Required characteristics and skills: The Junior Buyer must be responsible, with a natural sense of ownership. He/She must be conscientious, trustworthy, work to a high standard of accuracy and be driven by results.
Customer and Company First attitude: The Junior Buyer must be capable of putting both the financial interests of the Company and its customers' foremost. He/She should be able to appreciate and understand the importance of ensuring the Company's financial wellbeing, without impacting its customers' negatively.
