ELECTRICAL, DESIGN, CONTROLS, PLC, ROBOTICS, AUTOMATION
An urgent opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design / Controls Engineer to join a well-established privately-owned company providing manual handling solutions to some of the UK's & Europe's most exciting projects. The company has recently secured a number of key contracts covering electrical design and installation hence they are now looking to increase their design capability through the development of new talent into the industry.
Ideally you will have a minimum of two to three years machine manufacturing electrical design experience with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and you must be able to communicate effectively at all levels with team members, clients and other stakeholders. Experience in materials handling, product throughput and robotics would be an advantage. You must be able to interpret client requirements and provide detailed electrical drawings and specifications to issue to production. You will create new electrical designs & drawings and interpret existing ones. You will research & source 'best fit' contractors and equipment providers. You will work with purchasing to ensure parts are available in time for build and shipment.
Whilst the role will be primarily office based, the applicant should be prepared to attend site meetings to assess works on site and to work with the installation & mechanical design team to realise effective designs. This will involve national and international travel.
The role will be working in a small team designing mechanical handling solutions for a number of different industries including food manufacturing and aerospace. This will include establishing existing situation by desk-top or site surveys and production of all design documentation including drawings, reports, schedules, calculations, providing cost estimates to the sale team, providing technical support to the production and service teams on electrical problems on the equipment etc. The role will also include the production of test plans, O&M manuals and hand-over documentation.
·Electrical panel design experience.
·Electrical drawing (AutoCAD, E-Plan or similar).
·PLC programming (modify existing and/or creating new full project) - TIA portal, Step7, Allen Bradley, etc.
·HMI configuration, modify and create new projects.
·Motor drives - Regulation. Vector control (Servo drives, Absolute encoders, etc).
·Some IT experience will be advantageous.
·Documentation and training manual creation.
·Robot programming would be advantageous
