Role: Infrastructure Engineer

An exciting new opportunity for an infrastructure Engineer has come up at an incredible market leading software firm based in Bedford, and it could be the role for you!
Your role will be to support the applications used to deliver hosted services by helping provide patches and upgrades, monitoring platform logs and taking responsibility for the web stack. It is therefore essential that you have a hands-on understanding of LAMP technology stack, cloud services and networking technologies as well as a good understanding of relevant security practices.
Along with your technical support responsibilities, you will also take on a customer focus becoming actively involved with the support and development of the service regarding support cases, maintenance and improvement projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Application Team Leader with extensive support and team leadership to provide incident management and resolution alongside project-based deliverables to ensure a high-quality service. This is not an opportunity to be missed!
·You will have significantly responsibility for the entire Web stack (open source Linux based technologies).
·You must be proactively monitoring platform logs and metrics so as to identify emergent issues and opportunities to improve performance.
·You will be responsible for designing, developing, Implementing and evolving the monitoring frameworks.
·You will be contributing to the planning of application and infrastructure releases and configuration changes.
·You will be looking after the implementation, secure standard setup, High Availability, Load balancing and proxy technologies of the service, and will work alongside the dev to implement any potential improvements.
·You will be patching and upgrading existing applications while also designing appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators.
·You will be responsible for storage administration for the VMware stack and backup infrastructure.
·You will have to resolve support requests from customers across a variety of platforms by making use of the call logging system.
·You will be Interacting with the internal teams and external 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
·Practical experience in monitoring and tuning various applications/infrastructure to provide a highly available service (Nagios, Observium, SNMP, ELK)
·Demonstrable strong experience of implementing and managing Linux (CentOS 6/7) systems and related software
·Support of large, complex, customer-facing platforms (required)
·Knowledge of scripting languages, e.g. PowerShell, VBScript, Bash (required)
·VMware infrastructure administration
·VPN Firewalls administer VPNs between sites
·Experience with systems and IT operations operating within an ISO27001 environment
·Experience of supporting Cisco ASA IOS 9.x
·Experience with automation/configuration management (Ansible & Puppet)
