Role: Linux Engineer
Salary: £40,000 + excellent benefits
I have an exciting new opportunity for a Linux Engineer at a market leading firm based in Bedford.
In this role you will take a customer focus by contributing to the planning and release of application and infrastructure as well as resolving customer support requests via a call logging system.
Working alongside the customer role, you will be expected to provide a high-quality operational support to both customers and internal business functions as well as being responsible for improving and monitoring the whole web stack. A technical understanding across the LAMP technology stack, Ansible, PHP, NGINX, Cloud Services (Azure) and networking technologies is thus essential for this role.
·You will have significantly responsibility for the entire Web stack (open source Linux based technologies).
·You must be proactively monitoring platform logs and metrics so as to identify emergent issues and opportunities to improve performance.
·You will be responsible for designing, developing, Implementing and evolving the monitoring frameworks.
·You will be contributing to the planning of application and infrastructure releases and configuration changes.
·You will be looking after the implementation, secure standard setup, High Availability, Load balancing and proxy technologies of the service, and will work alongside the dev to implement any potential improvements.
·You will be patching and upgrading existing applications while also designing appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators.
·You will be responsible for storage administration for the VMware stack and backup infrastructure.
·You will have to resolve support requests from customers across a variety of platforms by making use of the call logging system.
·You will be Interacting with the internal teams and external 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
·Demonstrable strong experience of implementing and managing Linux (CentOS 6/7) systems and related software
·Comprehensive understanding of SSL/TLS and PKI
·Practical experience in monitoring and metric collection/analysis (ELK, Prometheus, Nagios and/or others)
·Advanced experience of Bash scripting (required)
·Experience with systems and IT operations operating within an ISO27001 environment
·Basic understanding of networking principles and protocols
