Network Support Engineer

About the Role:

Are you ready to tackle complex network issues? Join this Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) Team as a Network Support Engineer, working with cutting-edge Cisco technologies to support network routing, switching, and data center fabric products.

Location: Reading

Base Salary: £45,000-£55,000 + Company Benefits

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise and manage network incidents.
  • Resolve technical cases and facilitate communication with vendors.
  • Recreate and troubleshoot issues in lab environments.
  • Coordinate technical escalations and produce reports.
  • Collaborate with customers and third parties to mitigate vulnerabilities.Support monthly service review meetings and identify service improvements.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • NOC/SOC (2nd/3rd line support) experience.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco networking (Nexus/Catalyst).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth understanding of OSI and TCP/IP.
  • Proficiency in BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, Ethernet, VLANs, Port Aggregation, and 802.1Q Trunking.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Cisco ACI, Hyperflex, UCS platforms, Firepower, ASA, ISE.
  • Knowledge of BGP EVPN VXLAN, IPSec/SSL VPNs.
  • Experience with Wireshark and Juniper Routing & Switching platforms.
  • Awareness of ITIL practices.

Certifications:

  • Cisco CCNA (Essential)
  • Cisco CCNP (Desirable)
  • Juniper JNCIA (Desirable)

Candidates holding current SC or DV Clearance will be highly desirable for this role.
