Are you a highly experienced engineer with expertise in safety and environment engineering? iO Associates have partnered with one of the UK's leading Defence companies in the search for a Principal Safety and Environmental Engineer to join their team in Barrow-In-Furness.
This is a brilliant opportunity to lead in delivering technical excellence, provide strategic direction, and ensure the highest standards of safety in challenging and innovative projects.
Main responsibilities:
- Conduct and lead technical/design reviews while providing clear technical direction to engineers.
- Define, document, and communicate subject matter expertise, methodologies and standards to strengthen the companies knowledge.
- Establish qualification criteria for key assurance points during build, testing, and commissioning, providing confidence to the Design Authority.
- Oversee functional design processes and deliver evidence to confirm ompliance with fitness for purpose, legislative requirements and safety standards.
- Ensure the validity of engineering assumptions, data, and analysis through thorough reviews, audits, and surveillance, guaranteeing reliable and verified results.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand and integrate their requirements into project plans, ensuring alignment and agreement on key objectives.
- Mentor and support individual and team development to enhance skills and competencies ensuring technical capability goals are met.
You will need:
- In-depth knowledge and a strong grasp of engineering concepts and principles within your field of expertise.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent level of competence and experience.
- Eligibility for SC Clearance or already SC Cleared
- Experience within a heavily regulated industry (defence manufacturing experience desired)
- Track record in addressing a broad range of engineering challenges within your discipline, as well as collaborating across multiple engineering domains.
