iO Associates have partnered with a high tech capital equipment manufacturer based in Newport in the search for a Senior Electrical Engineer. They are global business and are in the process of moving to a new state of the art manufacturing facility in Newport and have secured major orders from their key clients meaning the business is on a upward trajectory and it's a great time to join.

Due to growth this new role has been created to support to increased work load. Reporting to the Platform Hardware Manager you will be working to provide engineering support to key customers. You will first be working within smaller R&D teams to gain experience of the products, before moving to a 'core' engineering team.

On a day to day basis you will be designing components and making design changes based on customer requirements, changes to regulatory requirements or obsolescence. You'll also be revising drawings for change orders where required and producing high quality documentation packs, often to customer specific templates.
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working in an electrical/electronic design role
  • Strong understanding of Machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards
  • Knowledge of regulations such as EN60204, EN13849 would be beneficial
  • Experience in the following areas
    • Fixed installation machines
    • 3phase power distribution for 400/200v systems and control boxes
    • Wiring harness design
    • AC/DC power distribution circuit design
  • Has experience in completing detailed drawings for machine installation.
  • Can produce drawings with AutoCad electrical and willing to learn a 3D CAD package such as SolidEdge.
  • Able to confidently work with customers and suppliers
  • Work to tight timelines
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Can work both autonomously and as part of small and extended teams
  • Has worked in a manufacturing environment (ideally complex manufacturing)



In return you will receive a salary that reflects your experience in region of £40,000-£60,000 along with benefits including matched 6% pension 10% bonus and flexible working hours and WFH opportunities.
