Software Development Manager

Location: Remote with occasional visits to Gloucester
Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE

Role Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to guide and manage a team of developers, QA engineers, and product owners. In this pivotal role, you will drive the creation and evolution of their platform, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and cutting-edge. This is an ideal position for a proactive leader who excels in a fast-moving environment and is dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless collaboration and high standards of performance.
  • Direct the design, development, and maintenance of code that is efficient, reliable, and of the highest quality.
  • Ensure the ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancement of existing systems and platforms.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, third parties, and cross-functional teams to guarantee timely and successful project delivery.
  • Offer strategic insight and drive continuous improvement, keeping the team aligned with best practices and technological advancements.
  • Advocate for and implement automated testing frameworks to uphold the quality of the development process.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and team workloads to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A minimum of 8 years in software development with significant leadership and team management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in leading agile teams, with a deep understanding of agile principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a diverse audience.
  • Solid expertise in C#, .Net Core, .NET Web API, and RESTful API development.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and a strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and SOLID principles.
  • Proficient with Git repositories and experienced in CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Bitbucket Pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, microservices architecture, and Docker.
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies, including NET Blazor, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Understanding of test-driven development (TDD) and Clean Architecture principles.
  • Able to create well-organised and maintainable documentation.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, remote-first environment.
