iO Associates are excited to announce our new Engineering Virtual Meetup!

Taking place on Tuesday 16th May at 18:30 (BST), this meetup is a community with the aim of bringing together Engineering professionals nationwide through insightful and interesting talks.

Join us for the first instalment of our series, discussing all things C++ including C++ across different industries, Safety Critical C++ and Modern Day C++ challenges. Our guest speakers for our first session include:

• John Lakos, Manager Bloomberg and Author

• Klaus Iglberger, C++ Software design specialist and trainer

• Allan Jones, C++ Software specialist

John will provide a discussion and open Q&A surrounding his books. Other topics presented by Klaus during the session include:

- Are design patterns still relevant today?

- In the C++ community, why don‘t we talk more about software design?

- How had modern C++ changed the way we implement design patterns?

Whereas Allan will be covering: Qt is often considered a framework for cross-platform GUI applications, but it can also provide benefits in deeply-embedded, headless systems. This talk considers a few real-world examples, considering the costs and benefits associated with using Qt in embedded systems.
