Duration: 12 Months

Location: Stevenage

Pay rate: Up to £45 per hour.

An esteemed aerospace firm in Stevenage seeks an AIT Lead Engineer to join their innovative engineering team. Renowned for pioneering contributions to aviation and serving top industry names, this company is a global leader in aerospace technology, committed to excellence and innovation.

The role involves driving AIT standards and ensuring engineering concepts are effectively translated to the shop floor. It requires promoting best practices for quality and process robustness within the team and across disciplines, while also leading the AIT mechanical team towards mission success.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Mechanical Satellite component and lead the mechanical team throughout Phases of an ENS project.
  • Lead a team of AIT engineers for a specific project.
  • Plan the mechanical team's weekly activities, including the operations team, and ensure implementation.
  • Provide support for the use of 3Dx Delmia software on the project.
  • Generate specifications from test requirements, and develop test plans, DDV plans, AIT plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Handle mechanical aspects of spacecraft, instruments, payloads, solar arrays, antennas, etc.
  • Conduct environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal) at unit, subsystem, instrument, and spacecraft levels.
  • Install and validate test instrumentation and provide support for propulsion testing.

Skill Set:

  • Relevant engineering experience.
  • Understanding of satellite integration processes and project phases.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Ability to produce high-quality documentation (test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans, DDV plans).
