Role: DevOps Engineer
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Hybrid/Remote
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per year + excellent benefits
iO Associates are seeking a skilled DevOps engineer with a fintech client in Glasgow, Scotland. As a DevOps engineer, you'll be responsible for scaling our infrastructure and supporting the deployment of applications into various environments.
Objectives of this role
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using CloudWatch and other observability tools.
- Manage and optimise Kafka clusters for real-time data streaming.
- Oversee and maintain containerized workloads using EKS (Kubernetes on AWS).
- Support data infrastructure, including Amazon Redshift for analytics and storage.
- Implement security best practices and compliance controls within cloud environments.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to drive DevOps best practices.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Responsibilities
- Deploy updates and fixes and provide Level 2 technical support
- Build tools to reduce the occurrence of errors and improve customer experience
- Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems (data)
- Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues
- Develop scripts to automate visualisation (management tools such as Sentry and Grafana)
- Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with AWS services, particularly EKS, Kafka, Redshift, and CloudWatch.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
- Solid understanding of monitoring and logging solutions.
- Experience in scripting or programming (Python, Bash, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of networking, security, and cloud architecture best practices.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues in a production environment.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of data pipeline and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Fargate).
- Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.).
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
