Role: DevOps Engineer
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Hybrid/Remote
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per year + excellent benefits

iO Associates are seeking a skilled DevOps engineer with a fintech client in Glasgow, Scotland. As a DevOps engineer, you'll be responsible for scaling our infrastructure and supporting the deployment of applications into various environments.

Objectives of this role

  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using CloudWatch and other observability tools.
  • Manage and optimise Kafka clusters for real-time data streaming.
  • Oversee and maintain containerized workloads using EKS (Kubernetes on AWS).
  • Support data infrastructure, including Amazon Redshift for analytics and storage.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance controls within cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to drive DevOps best practices.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy updates and fixes and provide Level 2 technical support
  • Build tools to reduce the occurrence of errors and improve customer experience
  • Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems (data)
  • Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues
  • Develop scripts to automate visualisation (management tools such as Sentry and Grafana)
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with AWS services, particularly EKS, Kafka, Redshift, and CloudWatch.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
  • Solid understanding of monitoring and logging solutions.
  • Experience in scripting or programming (Python, Bash, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, and cloud architecture best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues in a production environment.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of data pipeline and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Fargate).
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.).
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
