Position Description:
As an Automation Test Engineer, you will be entrusted with working closely with a diverse range of clients on projects that have real-world significance and impact. IO Associates are partnering with a specialist SME within the Defence sector. This SME is a leader in IT Systems, focusing on designing, building, and managing bespoke, highly complex, mission-critical systems that ensure their clients' safety and security. Innovation is at the forefront of their work, leveraging both proven and emerging technologies, agile delivery practices, and deep expertise across space, defence, intelligence, aerospace, and maritime domains-all reinforced by robust cyber capabilities. Their collaborative approach involves partnerships with global technology firms, cutting-edge SMEs, and academic institutions to deliver optimal solutions for each client.


Please note that, due to the secure nature of the programme, you must hold the highest level of UK Security Clearance (DV). The role requires you to be based in our Basingstoke office five days a week.


Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the team in analysing requirements and designing solutions, including cost estimation. You will be responsible for communicating test results to both technical and business stakeholders, ensuring collaborative issue resolution. Your role will involve hands-on participation in test preparation and execution, as well as reviewing essential documentation such as functional and non-functional specifications, high-level design documents, and hosting design documents. Additionally, you will engage with users, architects, and other stakeholders to fully understand requirements and determine appropriate test coverage. Your expertise will be vital in providing guidance and mentorship to team members, helping to drive successful project outcomes.


Essential Skills:

  • Extensive experience in assisting with the analysis of requirements and the design of solutions, including cost estimation.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate test outcomes to both technical and business audiences, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Hands-on experience in preparing and executing tests, including reviewing key documentation such as functional/non-functional specifications, high-level design documents, and hosting design documents.
  • Proficient in engaging with users, architects, and various stakeholders to understand requirements and determine appropriate test coverage.
  • Strong background in providing expert advice, with experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
