About the Client: My client is a leading engineering firm specializing in the development of advanced systems for the offshore oil and gas industry. They are committed to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that meet the stringent demands of their clients and regulatory standards.

Role Overview: My client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead new design and build projects in the offshore oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will act as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring that all designs meet client specifications and comply with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for offshore applications, including topside and subsea structures.
  • Create and validate engineering calculation packages using hand calculations and FEA software.
  • Collaborate with vendors to select and validate components for various systems, including umbilical reels and hydraulic power units.
  • Develop 3D concept designs based on client specifications.
  • Review and approve fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly drawings.
  • Conduct design reviews with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Generate test procedures and operational manuals for equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mechanical design role, ideally within the offshore or subsea industry.
  • Proficient in the design of fabricated structures to DNV standards.
  • Skilled in using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA software for stress analysis (SolidWorks, ANSYS).
  • Experience with bolted and welded connection designs.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment design, including the selection of shafts, bearings, and gears.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic drive systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ATEX and design for hazardous areas is advantageous.
