We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, integration, testing, and optimisation of mechanical systems for robotics and automation applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles, a proven track record of designing complex mechanical systems, and a passion for innovation in the field of automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with other subsystems, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
- Perform structural and kinematic analysis to validate designs and ensure performance requirements are met.
- Generate comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) and work closely with procurement to select appropriate materials and components for manufacturing.
- Prototype and test mechanical systems to validate performance and functionality, iterating designs as necessary.
- Document design specifications, test results, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing, assembly, and testing phases of robotic systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions as needed.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience designing robotic assemblies or similar complex mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and materials science.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills.
- Passion for robotics and a desire to innovate in the field of automation, staying abreast of industry developments and contributing to the advancement of technology.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling software, production drawings, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
