Position Title: Team Lead Stress Engineer ✈️

Location: Dresden, Germany

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary: up to €100,000 per annum 💸

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Stress Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in primary structures to lead a team in Dresden. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity and compliance of aircraft conversion programs, particularly focusing on the A320/A321 and A330 P2F (Passenger to Freighter) conversions.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Work closely with a team of ~20 to ensure the successful and compliant conversion of aircrafts (P2F).

Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis:

    • Conduct fatigue assessments of existing and new damages on the A320/A321 and A330 P2F fuselage.
    • Calculate repair thresholds and develop inspection programs to monitor structural health over time.

Service Bulletins (SB) and Structural Repair Manual (SRM):

    • Develop and update Service Bulletins and the Structural Repair Manual for A320/A321 and A330 P2F conversions.

Finite Element Method (FEM):

    • Utilize Patran and Nastran to retrieve loads and assess structural modifications.
    • Perform detailed fatigue analysis and evaluate modifications based on FEM results.

CATIA:

    • Check 3D models and drawings for structural consistency and design integrity.
    • Ensure accurate implementation of modifications.

Tool Development with Excel VBA:

    • Develop custom Excel tools to streamline tracking and analysis processes, improving efficiency and accuracy in fatigue analysis and modification tracking.

Static Stress Analysis:

    • Act as a technical approver for structural repairs of Airbus A320/A321 and A330 P2F.
    • Perform static stress analysis and approval of urgent repairs related to STC areas.
    • Develop and approve static strength justifications for design repair solutions.

Customer Support Engineering:

    • Provide static stress analysis and approval for urgent repairs of A320/A321 and A330 freighters.
    • Collaborate with design and static engineering teams to assess and mitigate fatigue-related risks during aircraft conversions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in primary structures stress analysis.
  • Proficiency in Nastran, Patran, CATIA, and Excel VBA.
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations and standards.
  • Experience with fatigue analysis, static stress analysis, and structural repair assessments.
  • Ability to develop and approve static strength justifications and repair solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
