My client is seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in the marine industry. This role involves creating detailed 2D layouts, collaborating with internal teams, and managing technical queries, all while ensuring designs adhere to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive 2D design layouts, ensuring client specifications and safety regulations are met
  • Liaise with electrical, mechanical, and structural teams to resolve technical issues
  • Collaborate with customers and subcontractors to address design-related concerns
  • Modify and review designs based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders
  • Support production teams through on-site vessel reviews and drawing assistance
  • Manage material requisitions and coordinate with procurement on alternative supplies
  • Review 3D models and consult with European design teams as required
  • Ensure timely completion of designs aligned with production schedules
  • Adhere to regulatory and class requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software, with solid experience using Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders
  • Problem-solving expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Minimum 4 years of design experience, ideally in commercial shipbuilding
  • Understanding of ship outfitting and UK passenger ship regulations
  • HNC/HND or a relevant apprenticeship preferred
  • HVAC and structural knowledge are an advantage
  • Production experience is a plus
