Freelance Product Security Engineer - MedTech | Munich (Hybrid, 20% Onsite)

I'm currently supporting a MedTech client based in Munich who is looking for an experienced Freelance Product Security Engineer to join them on a long-term contract. The business is developing connected medical devices and digital health solutions, and they're seeking a security expert to ensure these products are built and maintained to the highest security and compliance standards.

This role requires someone who can confidently navigate both technical and regulatory environments and who brings hands-on experience from within the healthcare or MedTech space.

Key Requirements:

Fluent German speaker (C1+ minimum)
Proven experience in the MedTech or healthcare industry
Strong background in product security, particularly around secure development practices, threat modelling, and risk assessments
Familiarity with standards such as MDR, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and ISO 27001
Experience working across embedded, mobile, and cloud platforms
Eligible to work as a freelancer in Germany

Responsibilities:

Conduct threat modelling, architecture reviews, and vulnerability assessments
Advise development teams on secure coding and remediation strategies
Support compliance with relevant regulations and contribute to audit-ready documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, and regulatory affairs

This is a hybrid role with approximately 20% onsite work in Munich, depending on project phase and stakeholder needs.
