Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics Engineer (m/f/d)
A leading European space company with over 40 years of experience and a strong presence in Bremen is seeking a skilled Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics Engineer (m/f/d) to contribute to pivotal European space programs. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space missions, including Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, science, space exploration, human spaceflight, and aerial reconnaissance.
About the Role:
As a Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of complex space missions. You will be responsible for performing mission analysis, collaborating with subsystem and payload designers, and developing software for mission analysis and flight dynamics purposes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Perform mission analysis for Earth observation satellites in LEO and GEO.
- Analyze and derive mission and system performance parameters.
- Serve as the point of contact for subsystem designers regarding mission-related requirements and constraints.
- Liaise with payload designers and system engineers (particularly operations preparation engineers) to consolidate an operational concept for payload commanding.
- Provide subsystem designers with necessary mission-related analyses and profiles.
- Conceive, design, develop, and validate software packages for mission analysis and flight dynamics.
- Develop optimal/suboptimal attitude guidance profiles.
- Compute nominal mission profiles.
- Develop orbit control strategies and related software.
- Derive mission-related requirements.
Your Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent qualification.
- Deep understanding and practical knowledge of orbital dynamics problems and methods.
- Ability and experience to apply theoretical knowledge to solve technical challenges in space flight dynamics.
- Experience using numerical methods for orbit determination and control.
- Experience as a flight dynamics engineer in an operational context is a plus.
- Good knowledge of satellite attitude kinematics and dynamics.
- Knowledge and experience in optimization theory are a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with systems and subsystem engineers in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent command of MATLAB and Python. Knowledge of C and System Tool Kit (STK) is a plus.
