Managing Director - Business Development (High-Performance Protection Solutions)

Location: Fulda, Germany

€140,000 - €160,000 + Company car + bonuses + Package

Our client, a highly successful and innovative company specializing in high-performance protection solutions based in Fulda, Germany, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director with a strong focus on Business Development to join their leadership team. This is a confidential search for a strategic leader who will work in close partnership with the existing Managing Director to drive significant growth and market expansion.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities, particularly within the tactical vehicle sector (heavy vehicles for naval, land, and potentially air applications). A deep understanding of procurement processes within relevant industries and government entities is crucial for this role.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve ambitious growth targets.
  • Identifying and pursuing new market opportunities, with a strong emphasis on the tactical vehicle sector.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including procurement officials, defense contractors, and potential partners.
  • Leading the development of compelling proposals and presentations to secure new business.
  • Conducting thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborating closely with the existing Managing Director and other senior leaders to align business development activities with overall company strategy.
  • Overseeing the negotiation of contracts and agreements with new and existing clients.
  • Developing a strong understanding of our client's product portfolio and its application within target markets.
  • Representing the company at industry events and conferences to build brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Potentially building and leading a business development team over time.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proven track record of success in business development and sales leadership, preferably within the tactical vehicle, defense, or related heavy vehicle industries.
  • A strong network of contacts within relevant procurement lines and defense organizations.
  • A deep understanding of the procurement processes for military or large-scale governmental contracts.
  • Experience in identifying and securing significant new business opportunities.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative environment.
  • A relevant degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • While not mandatory, experience with Scandinavian defense markets and knowledge of companies like Patria would be a significant advantage.
  • Fluency in German + English
