Our client, a leading and innovative company specializing in high-performance protection solutions based in Fulda, Germany, is seeking a talented and driven Product Developer - Hard Ballistics to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and advancement of cutting-edge hard ballistic protection solutions.
In this role, the Product Developer will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of hard ballistic products, from conceptualization and design to testing and implementation. This will involve working with a variety of advanced materials, including metals, composites, compounds, and ceramics, to create innovative and effective protective solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conceptualizing and designing new hard ballistic plates or "tiles" and related components based on market needs and performance requirements.
- Conducting research and evaluating the properties and applications of various materials, including metals, composites, compounds, and ceramics, for hard ballistic applications.
- Developing and testing prototypes to evaluate their performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborating closely with materials scientists, engineers, and production teams throughout the product development process.
- Defining product specifications, performance criteria, and testing protocols for hard ballistic solutions.
- Analyzing test data and providing recommendations for design modifications and material selection.
- Staying abreast of the latest advancements in materials science, ballistic protection technologies, and relevant industry standards.
- Contributing to the development of intellectual property through patents and innovative designs.
- Working with adjacent industries, such as aerospace and tactical vehicles, to understand their specific safety requirements and potential material applications.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in product development, ideally within the field of advanced materials, composites, ceramics, or ballistic protection.
- A strong understanding of the properties and processing of metals, composites, compounds, and ceramics.
- Experience in designing and testing structural components, preferably those with safety-critical applications.
- Familiarity with relevant design software (e.g., CAD) and simulation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; German language skills would be an advantage.
- Experience or knowledge of the requirements and materials used in industries such as aerospace or tactical vehicles is highly desirable.
